Budapest is not only famous among tourists but also among filmmakers. A new top-notch Hollywood movie, Inferno is the next to be shot in the Hungarian capital, with Tom Hanks as the main character.

Budapest has recently become a very popular destination for movie makers. Well-known films such as Transporter 3, the horror movie The Rite, or the popular series The Borgias were all shot in the capital city, not to mention the apocalyptic action movie World War Z with Brad Pitt. Tom Cruise spent some time here for the shooting of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011, too.

Tom Hanks is the next to become an expat in Budapest; the two-times Oscar winner actor is moving here for the period of shooting the movie Inferno, the script of which is the third part of a sequence based on Dan Brown’s novel, is written by David Koepp and directed by Ron Howard. It is expected to be as action-packed and exciting as its precedessors, The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons.

The crew will soon arrive to the capital where most of the film is to be shot, in mid to late March. Plans are to hold 50 shooting days both in studio and open-air settings, with scenes to be played out in the surroundings of the Opera. It is not yet known if Hanks will bring his family with him to Budapest for the time of shooting.
