ART MARKET BUDAPEST
Posted by Eszter Hermann · Oct 6, 2014

100 exhibitors, more than 500 artists and thousands of creations – that’s what Art Market Budapest, an international contemporary art fair offers.

Art Market was established in 2011 and, despite being so young, has become a meeting point in Budapest for art lovers, the leading contemporary art fair of Eastern Europe and, with its more than 70 accompanying events, one of the pillars of the capital city’s cultural touristic attraction. It presents a unique artistic composition; besides featuring the exhibitors of the oldest art fairs, it gives an opportunity for the stars of the future, the younger generation of galleries and artists to show their talent.

Art Market Budapest is local and global at the same time. It defines a new cultural region: Young Europe, influenced by the former Communist countries from the Baltic States to the Balkans and culturally inspired by Turkey or Israel in the South, some Central Asian countries in the East and a progressive new generation from the West. The special guest of Art Market 2014 is Berlin: the exhibitors of the German capital will present themselves on hundreds of square meters. Furthermore, the contemporary art of the city will appear on spots outside the exhibition and a ’Berlin Day’ will be held as well.

The exhibition will be open between 9-12 October in Millenáris Cultural Centre, an Europa Nostra Award winning complex where Young Europe can welcome visitors with comfortable circumstances and developed infrastrucure. In addition to the masterpieces of contemporary art, the event features round table discussions, artist interviews and book launches, a number of programs and presentations to provide first-hand information about Eastern European art.

The aim of Art Market Budapest is to bring attention and awareness to contemporary Central and Eastern European artists, to highlight the uniqueness of the region’s art and to help bring the public and the artists closer together.
