Although the season of Advent and the Christmas fairs is over, we still don’t have to sit at home. In January, there are plenty of programs that will make it worth to get out of bed. Our favorite ones are the following:
Winterfest Budapest – Winter Beerfest, 18 January @ Duna Palace
The biggest winter beer festival of the year arrives in January to Zrinyi Street, in the Danube Palace. Winterfest refutes that beer is a summer drink: huge, comfortable guest rooms, more than 30 domestic and international breweries, professional lectures, home brewery workshops, concerts, brasserie recipes, and a lot of surprises await even if the weather is cold! At the event, organizers are launching a new competition, where domestic breweries can show their beers specially made for the winter season.
Ennio Morricone concert, 23 January @ Papp László Arena
Ennio Morricone is celebrating his 90th birthday this year, and on this occasion, he will give another huge concert in Budapest. Just like last time, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra will accompany the legendary composer, who has composed the music of unforgettable films for over six decades such as: Once Upon a Time in the West, The professional, A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, and The Untouchables. The two-time Oscar, one Grammy and one Golden Globe-winner composer brings the best of his music to the Papp László Sportarena on January 23.
5th Budapest International Documentary Festival, 28 January – 3 February, @ Cinema City Arena
BIDF, Budapest International Documentary Film Festival will be held for the 5th time between 28 January and 3 February 2019. BIDF is the competition, forum and presentation of the world's latest international successes, full-length, creative documentary films, where festival-prize winner, unique, first-time screened films can be seen each year, that mostly unpublished for later film distribution. BIDF shows true stories for fans of film festivals about human fate, problems, and social issues. A prestigious international jury will decide on prizes in five categories: Naked Hope, Naked Message, Naked Truth, Naked Passion, Naked Shorts.
