The most important, most shocking events of last year in one exhibition.
World Press Photo is unique in its kind. Each year it shows a dramatic impression of the world. Aims to inform and to inspire the understanding of the world. It’s the most important press photo exhibition of the world, and now it arrived to Hungary.
Each year, World Press Photo invites photographers from across the globe to participate in the World Press Photo Contest, the top photojournalism competition worldwide. An independent international jury of 19 experts judges all entries: this year they selected from 82,951 photos made by 5,775 photographers from 128 different countries. The annual exhibition takes the prizewinning images to 45 countries. It is seen by millions of visitors. In 2016, World Press Photo of the Year winner is Warren Richardson: Hope for a New Life, but many of the photos deserve this accolade. You watch them and feel the world as never before. Whether it’s an orangutan or an earthquake, the pictures show all that the words can’t.
World Press Photo is run as an independent, non-profit organization with its office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where World Press Photo was founded in 1955. If you visit only one exhibition this year, choose this one for sure!
