Budapest has 2 new Michelin star restaurants
Posted by Budnews · Apr 1, 2019

The total number of Michelin-star restaurants in Budapest has risen to six!

Michelin season is here, and we have two reasons to be happy: the Main Cities of Europe Guide lists the best restaurants of 38 European cities, and we have many eateries on the list!

This year Zagreb and Dubrovnik got its first star, but the greatest pleasure for us is that at the same time two Budapest restaurants also received 'the' star: Stand and Babel are now officially among the best.

In addition to the new recognition, our former Michelin star restaurants have been able to preserve their stars, so Costes, Costes Downtown and Borkonyha have still the one-star rating and Onyx has two Michelin stars. Talking about stars: do you know what they mean exactly? One star means a quality kitchen that worth trying, if you're there anyway. Two stars mean so excellent kitchen that it's worth taking a detour, while three means such a perfect place that it's worth a trip in itself.

In addition to the stars, Bib Gourmand qualification has been also awarded. Those restaurants can get this recommendation, that offer a very good value for money in their category. This list refreshes year-to-year and in 2019 three Hungarian places made it to the list: Fricska in Dob street, Petrus restaurant at Ferenc Square and Stand25 got this recommendation this year.
