The famous American chef, author and television personality comes to Hungary with his show, Parts Unknown, a well-known travel and food show on CNN since 2013. The most delicious and traditional Hungarian dishes will be on the menu.

Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown is an American show in which the famous chef travels the world revealing lesser-known, rather off-the-road places and exploring their diverse and unique cultures and cuisine. Bourdain studied at the Culinary Institute of America, he’s a veteran of many professional kitchens. His best show has won 3 Emmy Awards and got several other nominations for writing, sound mixing, editing, and cinematography.

The fifth season of the show will premiere on April 26. It will feature a variety of places in all over the world and the most tasteful dishes they offer. The episode in which the best Hungarian courses are to be featured will be aired on June 7.

„Drawing inspiration from iconic Hungarian born cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond, Bourdain explores the beauty, culture, history, architecture and food of Budapest. The culinary dishes sampled during his journey include goulash, fisherman’s soup, blood sausage, stuffedcabbage and, during a stop at restaurant Pleh Csarda, a golden brown pancake heaped with chicken liver and bone marrow, fried schnitzel and venison stew.” – says CNN about the episode on the Hungarian capital.

Just for you to have a glimpse into Hungarian kitchen in advance of the show: goulash (or gulyás in Hungarian) is probably the most well-known course of our cuisine; a soup or stew of meat and vegetables with the famous paprika and other spices. It dates back to the time of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. Stuffed cabbage is a typical winter course consisting of cooked cabbage leaves wrapped around a variety of fillings.

We’re looking forward to the show – not only because we love Hungarian cuisine, but also becaues we all agree that the above mentioned dishes deserve recognition and to be introduced to a larger audience, the members of which will hopefully often cook the best pieces of Hungarian gastronomy in their homes.
