Posted by Mia Balogh · Jun 10, 2015

It is worth taking a look at Gault&Millau’s annual list, which ranks the best Hungarian restaurants, so maybe you can choose your favourite spot weeks before arriving to Budapest.

You can find the best Hungarian hotels, wineries and restaurants in Gault&Millau’s annual catalogue. On their list, ranking the top restaurants, you can find Michelin Starred spots and less-known places, traditional Hungarian restaurants and modern spots, too. For Gault&Millau, the most important qualities are for example the ingredients chosen by the restaurants, the freshness of the food they offer, the creativity, the chef’s performance, and of course the value for money.

Here are the best 13 restaurants of their list, and we decided to add some details about the first five spots. Pick a favourite, or more, and if you come to Budapest, try their menus. We are sure that you will feel full and satisfied.

Costes Restaurant (17 points)

Stylish and elegant, Costes Restaurant – the first restaurant in Hungary to get a Michelin Star – is all about forgetting the outside world for a couple of hours. There is no dress code in there, so the time you spend there can be more relaxed. The service is friendly, and dishes on the constantly changing menu are prepared with the best fresh ingredients.
