Best wine bars in Budapest
Posted by Mia Balogh · Sep 9, 2015

Fall is the season, when we would like to enjoy the beauty of nature and the delicious produces it offers to us. Wine is a good example for that, and luckily, we have the possibility to taste some of the best ones in several really good wine bars in Budapest.

DiVino

‘Wine’ is in the name of DiVino, and you can associate to ‘divine’, as well. We think that it is an appropriate association, because both of the DiVino wine bars in Budapest – one at St. Stephen’s Basilica and one at Gozsdu Court, both near Deák Square – are sublime, offering only Hungarian types of wine on their wine lists. If you choose the first one, you can have a glass of really good wine at one of the most beautiful places in the city, and in the second one, you can choose your favourite one among 120 Hungarian wines. You can even attend wine school at DiVino, if you want to know more about good wines. We think that the course is in Hungarian but you can require some information via e-mail or on Facebook.

Doblo

Doblo Bor Bár is an eco-friendly wine bar located in Dob Street. It serves a rare selection of local organic wines and local organic cheese, but you can also taste other interesting spirits and sparkling wine cocktails. The furniture is all reused, wonderfully preserved and remade. The design of this spot is really warm and friendly, the brick walls give you the impression of being in a wine cellar. The Doblo Stage offers you live music in the evenings, while you can taste wine or buy a glass of your favourite one in their wine shop, from wide assortment of Hungarian fine wines.

St. Andrea

St. Andrea Wine & Gourmet bar is located in the downtown, on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky road. This spot offers you the wines of St. Andrea winery of Egerszalók, and they have a wine list with specific wine and champagne items that are only available in the bar. They also have delicious gourmet snacks (hot and cold) here to complement these wines. We suggest you this bar if you would like to have dinner in a nice, elegant but warm, comfortable and friendly wine bar.

Borkonyha – Winekitchen

If you are looking for the perfect bend of a French-style bistro and a contemporary family restaurant, we are sure that you will like Borkonyha (Winekitchen) in Sas Street. It is offering the best of Hungarian cuisine and a wide and diverse wine list. “Our wine assortment includes 200 different, mostly Hungarian wines that represent not only the well-known wineries, but also small and yet-to-be-discovered cellars” – they say about themselves. If you visit them, and don’t know what to choose, don’t worry, they will help you with their useful tips and advices. You will enjoy the tastes and the atmosphere of this nice and friendly spot.
