Who said sports can’t be chic?

We have the feeling: summer is not so far anymore. Summer sports are one of our favourites, especially those of the beach.

It seems that some of the world’s high fashion brands are aiming to become a luxury sport brand. Fashion designers have long been interested in releasing sports clothes and equipment, but this time they are not into tennis or golf. Fashion victim surfers, this is your high-time.

The haute couture fashion house, Chanel has been known for its unique, refined style and it is no different with its surfboars either. First launched in 2010, their main point was to keep Coco Chanel’s aesthetics and we think they did succeed. These boards are sleek, elegant, classic. They are shaped in monochrome carbon fiber, polyurethane and fiberglass and they come in black, white and red colors. If you are a fashionista surfer, who wants to pull into in style and who’s willing to pay $4000, these boards were meant for you.

Chanel is not the only brand which has unveiled its surfboard collection. Right after Karl Lagerfeld, american designer Marc Jacobs was next in line. His collection includes nine different models in bold colors, which are undoubtedly of Marc Jacobs’ modern and trendy style. Marc Jacobs is also creative director of the french fashion house, Louis Vuitton and was elected to be among the 100 most influential men by Times Magazine in 2010. It must be fate that his line of surfboards are shaped by a man named Hap Jacobs, based in Hermosa Beach, Californa, who by the way has been in the surfboars industry for years.

If you are into summer surfboarding, you should also check out Los Angeles based designer’s, James Perse’s line of surfboards. His limited edition boards come in bold black and white colors. These boards are not so much about the brand. Unlike Chanel’s or Marc Jacob’s boards, James Perse’s models can not be recognized so easily, but still you get a very high quality designer borad which has been made for maneuverability and speed.
