The DIY – Do It Yourself movement has been very popular for ages, and there are some person who are so talented in recycling, that they created their own fashion brand of waste recycling art.
There is one common thing in these designer stuffs: they were all created from something that someone has scrapped once. If you want to take home some special memories or gifts with you, we show a few stores you should take a look at.
Printa, or more precisely, AWARE by Printa is the only fashion line in Hungary that is specifically made by recycled and eco materials. The designers aim, of course, is to raise awareness of the use of alternative materials and the "slow fashion"; and all this by following the principles of upcycling. So they take these on old textiles, redesigning and repainting them and last but not least decorate them with screen printing, which is a unique technology in upcycling design.

At Cirrhopp we can obtain textile jewellery and accessories made of recycled cotton t-shirts and plastic bottles. Kinga Balogh, the brand founder combines her own ideas with the spinning, weaving, knotting techniques, a result of which these unique, recycled jewellery textiles are born. The aim – as Kinga said - is the reduction of waste and the enthusiastic joy when the stretched T-shirt transforms and we put them on again.

With the Recycle Mission we take a look at the interior design: the group of contemporary artists prepare their creations from recycled bicycle waste. Their goal is to create a new object culture from the constantly generating waste in our environment. Among their creations, there are both everyday objects and exhibition items. They make for example wine opener, furniture, incense holder, ashtray, key chain, candle holder, bottle opener and belt as well.

We have another bicycle-related favourite: Balkantango, which is a bicycle inner tube recycler brand. They manufacture upcycled inner tube wallets & other accessories in the highest existing quality since 2006. Their products are unique due to the original spots and markings of the inner tubes and despite the fact that they use scrapped raw materials, Balkantango can guarantee extra durable, high-quality items. And as they collect the inner tubes from Basel and Budapest, these products are made from 100% European hazardous waste.

If you fancy a little do-it-yourself, at the end we offer a workshop: this is the Medence group’s recycling workshop named Re+concept, where attractive, useful, unique items are born from used advertising banners. The textile-PVC-based giant posters saved from the dump reborn as beach bag, purse, or even tent at these events. On these workshops there is no need to any prior practice, knowledge, or dexterity, but of course if you don’t desire to DIY, you can also buy them from the professionals.
