Foreign students can’t stop loving Hungary and Budapest, thanks to these sights, dishes and other attractive attributes.

Budapest Metropolitan University has made a research concerning the sights, dishes, etc. that foreign students learning here love about Hungary. In their non-representative research, they asked 250 expats about the most positive things that come into their mind if they think of their experiences in Hungary. In our opinion, the results are quite interesting so we would like to share these with you.

The students’ favourite dish is goulash, they think of the taste of paprika as the most special hungarikum and their favourite sight in the city is the Parliament building. They think that Budapest is a charming capital city. Besides the Parliament, they love Buda Castle and St. Stephen’s Basilica, as well.

They also appreciate the multicultural environment and the public safety. It is also exciting that they love the public transport in the city: they think that it’s cheap and they didn’t have any complaints about how organized or unorganized it can be. Meanwhile, Hungarian city dwellers love to hate BKV, use four lettered words when they talk about it and often say that they are late only because the capital city’s public transport system.

Anyway, all of us love eating, right? Well, students from foreign countries have enjoyed goulash soup the most, the second dish on the list is paprikás csirke (chicken paprikash), the third one is lángos (fried dough served usually with sour cream, cheese and maybe some garlic).

And finally let us share some surprising data with you: students from other countries like ruin pubs less than their Hungarian buddies. Expats would rather go to clubs for good music, especially near St. Stephen’s Basilica, Deák Square or Kazinczy Street but they love festivals, as well.
