The cult Kassa ship has new life.
Nightlife of Budapest has a new, but already emblematic figure. This is TRIP (former Kassa) ship, which has truly respectable history. This is the last remaining ship of the former Hungarian Danubian fleet. It was completed in 1939 at the Újpest shipyard. Kassa served military service between 1941 and 1944, then has been evacuated to Austria in 1944. In 1947, we got the ship back, and renamed it as Debrecen. It operated as a merchant vessel serving river service until the 1960s. It was withdrawn from the market in the 60s.
An organization found it in 1999 in the Újpest shipyard, and they refurbished the ship in 2006. The new life of the ship begun in 2017 when it entered the nightlife of Budapest as an entertainment venue and conquered both domestic and foreign audiences as TRIP vessels. Now the boat lives her happy life as a party venue in the immediate vicinity of Batthyányi Square.
Although we have several party boats on the Danube, this place is different. In addition to music programs and concerts; theater, stand up performances and film screenings are also being held on the TRIP boat. The feeling is a bit of a community center of old times, but it will soon be transformed and modernized, the inner interior will grow stronger. On the plus side: the quality of the concert hall is above average. Try it now, and come back some months later to compare the before-after condition.
