Heaven for women: flowers, cakes, home decor… This is Flowerpower
Posted by Budnews · Apr 19, 2018

There is a really special place on the Buda side of the city.

There are places that can’t be categorized, or described in a few worlds. There are several bicycle shops that are coffee shops at the same time, and now here is the flower shop/coffee shop combination. Flowerpower is a unique place: they have several cakes specialized for different food sensitivities, but we can also buy our wedding bouquet or pottery here. And while we’re eating, they also happy to furnish our apartment.

The owner, Krisztina Károlyi is a modern polymath. She works as a speech therapist, makes ceramics since her childhood, and also deals with interior design. Flowerpower is not her first unique attempt: back in 1997 Krisztina opened a coffee shop-wine bar that promoted South-French home-decor. Although that 'Petit Provance’ closed years ago, Flowerpower is here, and this place is magical.

The small shop in the 12th district is like a scenery from Alice in wonderland. This coffee shop/ flower shop has an adorable terrace, where you can enjoy the spring air in a pleasant green environment, still, we suggest sitting down in, because this way you can enjoy this well-designed, flowery gemstone. From here you can see the lavish wine and tea collection and the ceramics of Krisztina Károlyi, which also used for serving coffee and cookies. Although „to go” option is available, we highly recommend drinking your coffee on the spot, because each plate is a real work of art.

Everything is very small and homely here; the desk is within a few steps from the tables and all the cakes are homemade or are from Asztalka and PlantLife - this latter is specialized in raw vegan sweets. Even if you’re not into these modern things and everything-free food, you should taste the lactose and gluten-free orange cake and the lemon-almond cookies! Believe us, they worth trying!

But let’s talk about the other main profile of the shop: flowers. We can pre-order compositions for events, or they make a bouquet on the spot if you’d like. The owner, Krisztina prefers the more natural flowers, such as tulips, buttercup, chamomile and sheepskin flower, and she likes to cheer up the traditional cut flowers with these elements.

Flowerpower is a young place, and they have several plans with the shop, so maybe it’s not the permanent form, but one thing is sure: coffee and cake consumed from eye-catching ceramics, next to a bouquet of tulips is a special experience in this small "garden".
