5 places, where your kids can learn about Hungary’s wildlife in a fun and easy way.

Study trails are great: if you want to know something new while being on a trip, these are your places. We think these trails are interesting even for adults, and with kids it is warmly recommended. These are the ones that you shouldn’t miss in Budapest:

Jan Goodall study trail

This is the newest trail in the city at Vörös-kővár, near Hármashatárhegy. The one-kilometer long educational trail consisting of six information boards was the result of community collaboration. With the help of English and Hungarian language tables, you can learn about the history of the area, its wildlife and, of course, about the main "attraction", Caspian whip snake. This is our biggest snake, its length may reach 2 meters, but this place is home to other rare natural values as well.

Study trail at Sas-hegy

Kázmér, the Rosalia longicorn is a blue-black-gray coated figure who helps to know the colorful flora and rich animal life of this trail. Kázmér has long been the emblematic figure of the Danube-Ipoly National Park, so he knows all the special animals including dormouse and pannonic lizard, and he knows all the plants along the study trail. Kids going to love the interactive games of this trail!

Study trail at Kis-Sváb mountain

This trail is in almost in the city center, in the nature reserve above Városmajor. This Tale Trail brings children's senses into the play so they can get to know the flora and fauna of the area as they become aware of it. Birdwatching with telescope, music box to know the sounds and fragrances of nature, giant bugs appear on the path as spectacular statues… No one will get bored here!

„Path of senses” interactive study trail in the spirit of environmental protection

The short route in the protected area shows the cycle of nature, and the living creatures in the area through the sensory-related installations on the stations. The stations gradually introduce children to nature conservation: the journey begins with the basic forest ethics, then introduces forest animals, explores different plants and edible berries, and the uses of them while explaining how nature circulates.

Nagy-Szénás trail

Discover the unique natural values through a carefully designed, 2.4-km long nature trail. The specialty of the area is given by several native plant species spread in very small areas, such as the Dolomitic flax, István-king carnation, a special rowan berry and Hungarian Seseli leucospermum.
