Budapest Transport System has some special vehicles…
You’ve probably heard about the Christmas tram with light garlands, but what about Santa’s bus? In addition to the enlighted tram, now we can travel with a bus decorated with Santa Claus and Christmas motifs from 6th to 23rd December. The Santa bus circulates on the route of bus 7 from Móricz Zsigmond körtér to Keleti railway station every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
And this is not the only holiday-themed vehicle in Budapest. In the Advent period, unique trolleybuses circulate in the town. The 70, 72, 75, 80A and 83 lines has special lightings: these vehicles have 10,000 LED light bulbs and special inner decoration on the occasion of the holidays. Even Santa Claus will pop up on these trolleys, so pay attention!
This all fun is for good reason: Santa collects gifts for children in need, so if you hop on one on these trolleys, be sure you have something small for them. Chocolate, teddy bear, clothes... something you don’t need anymore will lighten up someone else’s day. It’s not obligatory, the Santa trolley is available at normal fares (one ticket), but it’s a nice gesture! Find further information about the timetables here and here.
