The capital starts a great bike development this year.
Budapest launches another major bicycle development this year. Several bicycle paths will be rebuilt, many traffic lights will be redesigned, and some traffic technology interventions will also take place to improve cyclist safety.
But the best news is that in addition to developing the already existing opportunities, new B+R bike parking lots will be established. The bike parking lots – a total of 35 - will be at the stops of main public transport routes: metro lines M2 and M3, and at the stations of H5, H8 and H9 suburban railways. Generally, bent pipes will be placed at the stops, but several station will get a covered bike storage - says BKK, the Hungarian Public Transport Center.
This means that commuters from the suburbs will have a more convenient alternative to car use: the development will help people reach the station by bicycle, and from there go on by using public transport. Bicycle parking next to metro lines and tram makes city traffic much smoother than ever.
