The first electric scooter-sharing system is here

Soon we can rent e-scooters based on the well-known community sharing system. The test period is on!

Bike sharing system is not a big deal these days, every bigger city has one of those. Budapest has such companies for bikes (Mol Bubi), motorbikes (Blinkee) and cars (Mol Limo, Greengo), and now here is the newest thing: the scooter sharing system. Lime is launching an electric roller, or scooter service in the capital of Hungary, with the aim of making life easier for the capital city.

Lime is present in more than 100 cities around the world with bikes and e-scooters. Their scooters are equipped with a built-in GPS system and an automatic break system. You can download the Lime application to your smartphone from the App Store or Google Play to find the closest free e-roller that you can use with your mobile. One of the advantages of the e-scooter sharing service is that it works without docking stations, so you can pick up and drop rollers almost anywhere: This way it only takes few minutes to reach the City Park on Andrássy Avenue, starting from Elisabeth Square.

For the time being, the test period is on, and it seems to be a great opportunity. With these vehicles you don't have to look for a parking space as you can pick it up and can left your devices wherever you want. Prior to implementation, Lime cooperated with the relevant local authorities and talked to local decision makers. The scooters are capable of a maximum speed of 25 km/h, with a rechargeable battery. We have nothing to do with the scooters, except enjoying the ride: Lime team maintains the vehicles, they collect the rollers during the nigh, recharge them at filing stations, thus they can be used again in perfect condition in the morning.

“We believe that there is a big need for micromobility in Budapest. Like many other European cities, traffic jams, air pollution and parking difficulties are also a problem here. In collaboration with the capital and the local people, we want to develop solutions that make our urban environment more livable. I hope that in a year we will see many people on the streets of Budapest to travel with Lime e-scooters and our service will be an integral part of this dynamically developing city” - said Paloma Castro Martinez, Director of Lime.
