The feast of museums will be held for the 24th time this weekend.
The National Museum is organizing the Mayfair of Museums for the 24th time this weekend (May 18-19). The two-day event features 105 museums from all over the country in the Museum Garden. One of this year's major focal point is 1989, the democratic transformation 30 years ago, while the other one is „Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition”. This idea draws attention to the cultural preservation power of museums, to the future of deeply rooted traditions that are so important to society, and to their community-retaining significance.
The 105 participating museums offer countless interactive programs: adventurous people can ride velocipedes, study insects under a microscope, try out penitentiary equipment, wear a fireman or postman uniform or gas mask, and carve amulet from grease stone. After the costume show, we can try on knight's equipment, baroque and reform era dresses, we can get henna tattoo and learn the tricks of pottery.
