New passenger centre to be built at Keleti Railway Station
Posted by Mia Balogh · Jun 19, 2020

The lower-floor passenger area at the Keleti will get a makeover until summer 2021.

Have you ever been to the Keleti Railway Station? If yes, you might remember the lower-floor area – on the same level as the entrance of metro lines 2 and 4. It is a very retro place, right? Well, it will be refurbished soon: the 200-250 sqm space will get a makeover until the summer of 2021.

There will be a lot of smaller and bigger changes actually. Mostly bigger ones like a total of nine new windows and two for customer services will be open (one of these will be a workplace for disabled people). Information and customer service offices will also be opened here. Besides, 18 ticket machines (some of these on the platform level) will make it easier to buy tickets for everyone.

The waiting areas and the toilets will be renovated, there will be a luggage storage on site and the whole place is expected to be much more family friendly with a new children’s corner.

The refurbishment works are expected to begin at the end of 2020, and the new wheelchair-friendly passenger area is promised to be ready for summer 2021.
