The list includes the bar of Four Seasons Hotel along with places like the Connaught Bar in London or the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in St Petersburg.
We have hundreds of great bars in the city – if you’re our regular reader, you probably know that. And maybe now you can’t come to Hungary for several months due to the epidemic, it’s good to know what to expect when you’ll finally be here.
Well, CNN made a listing about the best hotels bars of the world and guess what! A Hungarian bar is on the list! Yes, of course, it’s a subjective list, like any other similar lists, but if you see Kollázs, you will agree with Alia Akkam, the writer of this year’s top list.
Kollázs Brasserie & Bar is a contemporary brasserie in Budapest, overlooking the Chain Bridge and the Danube River. The Hungarian word for “collage” highlights creative combinations in all aspects of the dining experience: it’s vibrant and inspiring, yet casual and affordable.
As Budapest emerges as a modern metropolis, Kollázs perfectly captures the dynamic spirit of the city: historic yet contemporary, timeless yet fresh, glamorous yet relaxed. This place promises to become one of Budapest’s most popular dining destinations – welcoming with understated, informal elegance.
The bar of Gresham Palace is a 1906 Art Nouveau masterpiece, originally built for the Gresham Life Assurance Company by Zsigmond Quittner and József Vágó. It retains gobs of Secessionist-style features, including Zsolnay ceramic tiles, Miksa Róth-made stained glass, wrought-iron railings and peacock gates - totally a must-see place!
At Kollázs we can taste Hungarian and French dishes from the Rotisserie and the Kitchen. This means authentic, rustic brasserie dishes with a twist, combination of a few pronounced flavours, more innovative dishes based on high quality local produce, more sophisticated, yet simple presentation.
By the way, this is not the first time that CNN has chosen a bar from Budapest as one of the best bars in the world. Last year, for example, New York Café was chosen as the most beautiful café house in the world.
