Bike registration

You can register your bicycle for higher security.

The bicycle registration system is being established in Budapest, similar to many western towns. The system recalls the way we supply our dogs with microchip: we can mount our bicycles with a unique, traceable identifier. So in case of loss or robbery we can denounce it easier way than ever: with pressing a button online. And chances are way better to find it.

We can get the registration in the commissioner's office on 15 Hunyadi square. On this occasion, the bike is cleaned, stamped, equipped with UV stamps, and officers also make photos of it. So if it became stolen, we have bigger chance to get it back. Moreover, the theft of bicycles already registered is less likely - if the thief can "choose" between an unregistered bike and one with a police sticker, they are likely to take the former.

During registration, the owner must confirm that they own the vehicle, enter personal and contact information, and they record the identifying features of the bicycle: color, manufacturer, chassis number, and equipment, characteristic. The patrols can check the bikes with UV lamp and a tablet, so they can see if a person does not ride their own bike.

Although you cannot access the database from outside, but if we’d buy a bike with registration sticker on, or it’s suspicious that one of those was removed from it, information may be obtained from the police whether the rightful owner is the seller. If so, then the sale is recorded by the police, and writes the bike on our name.

Of course, this system does not replace the padlock, but provides extra sense of security in any case.
