Budapest in your palms
Posted by Ágnes Taraszovics · Sep 1, 2015

A Hungarian designer invented a so cool map of Budapest that we can hardly believe. This is EggMap, an egg-shaped, squeezable, stress ball-like map.

Using a map has never been as fun, practical and stress compatible as with the EggMap of Dénes Sátor. The surprising shaped map is made of rubber, filled with air and is highly similar to the stress ball, or to those big eyed toys that if you squeeze their eyes bulge. Since there’s only air in it, it hardly has any weight and if it’s torn out somehow, the flour wouldn’t flows out. The flexible map is hand sized and although it sounds incredible, but hides a complex map of Budapest. To see the details of the city you only have to zoom in (squeeze), and information like bus stops and sights will appear. For the easier orientation, the designer marked the different districts with different colors and all means of transport and landmarks got its own icon as well.

Talking about the EggMap the designer said: the paper maps are uncomfortable, the smartphone may be discharged and they are sensitive, but EggMap is small, pocket-sized, indestructible and it’s never go dead. The idea came during inflating a balloon with a happy birthday subtitle on it. EggMap is not available in stores yet, as is a conceptual plan, but sooner or later it will be. The team is already working on the preparation of the production. If you wish to be notified as soon as possible when the eggs will be available in stores, then follow their facebook page for the latest news.

And we suggest to do so, because this unusual urban navigation tool will be a must-have soon. Drop it, step on it or throw it against the wall, there will be no harm in the analog map. In fact, since it’s made of waterproof material, it can be used in the most hostile conditions. And EggMap is the perfect gadget, because if you get lost even so, it is perfect for stress ball as well.
