Budapest will get a “greener” Nyugati Square in October

There will be a lot of changes at the renovated Nyugati Square – overall, we can say that the city will get a friendlier, “greener” place, right at the frequented Nyugati Railway Station.

The renovation of Nyugati Square is already finished – works are done since 12 September but we still have to wait the square to be officially handed over to the city and to the citizens for the first days of October.

There will be a lot of changes at the square right in front of Skála, opposite the Nyugati Railway Station. One of the most important changes is that the number of trees will be increased, while the most dominant element of the square, the huge staircase will be narrowed.

The clock of the square – a really important meeting point in the city – stays here, just like the huge overpass which is not a really sympathetic element of the city but it will stay and help the transport for years or let’s say for decades. We really hope that the city will manage to find an alternative for this but for now, it would be expensive and complicated operation.
