The City of Budapest Construction and Design LTD announced a tender for the re-design of the Margaret Island buffet pavilions. Here come the plans.
Not only the City Park is going to renew his year, but also a smaller, yet very interesting project: the buffet units of Margaret Island. These pavilions are a bit (how to put it mildly…) obsolete, and the upcoming Swimming World Cup justifies even more to standardize and modernize these units. There is no decision yet about the coherent image, but P8 Workshop posted their vision on Facebook.
The designers focused on such fundamental issues as the disintegrating image and inadequate consumer spaces, and the goal was to set up clean and sustainable system. They dreamed the pavilions with minimalist design and by following the "box in box" principle. There would be an external framework to protect the internal function box and to provide coherent appearance. The function box inside could be placed in several ways, depending on the function: different way for a terraced restaurant and for a winter coffee shop.
Although we don’t know whether this pavilion renewal will be implemented in some form or not, we would be very enthusiastic about such a project.
