Great news: Hungarian film is nominated for Student Academy Award
Posted by Budnews · Aug 13, 2016

Nowadays Hungarian film industry became more and more acknowledged: not a month goes by without some Hungarian movie success.

Now another great news arrived: Hajni Kis’ „Beautiful figure” has been nominated for Student Academy Awards. And if the young Hungarian director wins, her film maybe can make it to the „real”, big Academy Award ceremony. The film competes in the „Best foreign narrative film” category.

For the Student Academy Award they nominate films in seven category. SAA had a total of 1749 entries this year, so it’s already a big thing that Hajni is among the top 7 in her category. The 16-minute graduation film is about an aloof, but childishly curious high school janitor woman who falls in love with a female student.

In the 44-year history of SAA only one Hungarian film has been awarded in 1991, most recently we got nomination is 1994. This years Student Academy Awards Week will be held between 18-24 September in Los Angeles; the Student Academy Awards ceremony will be on September 22 in Samuel Goldwyn Theatre, Beverly Hills.

We are keeping our fingers crossed!
