The adorable Hungarian countryside is offering some mouth-watering gastro programs for this summer, too, check out our favourite ones for July.
1, KeszthelyFest 2018
Keszthely is not only a beautiful town at Lake Balaton but also the location of several cultural and gastro events. One of these is KeszthelyFeszt, which will be organized this year from 6 to 8 July. Taste some delicious Hungarian food and of course a few glasses of wine (you can choose from the offer of 20 wine houses) while listening to any of the 23 concerts organized here during this gastro-cultural festival weekend.
2, Hungarian Apricot Fiesta
Boldogkőváralja is not only a tricky Hungarian town name for tongue-twisters but also the location of the Hungarian Apricot Fiesta (Gönci Barack Vigasság). Happening on 6-7 July, this gastro event will be like heaven for the fans of this sweet little yellow fruit. What can you taste here? Apricot - of course -, but also jams, cocktails, pálinka and other specialties made with this fruit. The ‘foodie fiesta’ will be completed by several family-friendly programs, and of course some music and dance.
3, Fish Cooking Festival in Baja
Baja is considered as the capital of the traditional Hungarian fish soup, ‘halászlé’ so it is not a wonder that they regularly organize their own Fish Cooking Festival there. Every year, there are 2000 teams who try to make the best fish soup on the streets of the town’s centre, in the same time. Almost 14 tons of fish is used for 20 000 portions of fish soup. Can you imagine it? Well, we suppose that it’s better seeing it with your own eyes. Visit Baja this summer, between 12 and 15 July and taste the traditional fish soup there. You won’t regret it. ;)
+1: Badacsony Wine Weeks
Festivals organized around Hungarian wine could be the subject of another article but let us recommend you now just one of these events: Badacsony Wine Weeks. It will happen this year between 13 and 29 July, making Badacsony Wine Region an inescapable place. ;) So if you like good Hungarian wine and want to enjoy not only your drink but also live music, craftsmen’s presentations and folklore programs, you will absolutely love this program. Bonus: the location of this wine festival is at Lake Balaton so you can spend the days at the lake, and the nights at your fav winery’s wooden stall. What else do you need? ;)
