The impressive public places of Budapest are not only perfect for a walk, concerts or romantic dates, but also for dance. In summer, many parts of the city function as a permanent dance floor, and now welovebudapest gathered the best of them.

Tango at Vigadó Square

Tango is a Latin dance heated by passion, that you can now practice with view to the Buda Castle, the Danube and the Gellért Hill: in addition to the tango evening in the Castle every Thursday, there is an outdoor milonga night at Dunakorzó, Vigadó Square every week. Mineral water is provided, and although the event is free, as a recommended contribution they are welcome a 500 HUF symbolic amount.

Swing out your Mondays in Dürer Kert

Those who love the atmosphere of the roaring 20s and 30s, the fuzz and buzz of the Jazz age and the energy of swing music can find their calculations every Monday! Monday’s Pepita Parties are the marriage of spectacular swing dances and hot jazz. The best swing dancers of Budapest congregate here to pay homage to their shared passion every week: Charleston, Lindy hop, Balboa and Shag. What you can expect is utmost ambience and a nice company on a pleasant summer night to the sweet-sweet melody of Jazz.

Salsa in the Buda Castle

Baila Budapest organizes salsa parties every second Monday on the Savoy terrace of the Hungarian National Gallery. They announce the dates on Facebook, and it worth paying attention to the salsa dates in the Buda Castle. The soft music match much better to the feeling of the place, so there are first of all moderate salsa music, with some bachata and kizomba. This initiative is nonprofit and unattached to any dance school.

Salsa at Erzsébet tér

Erzsébet tér salsa was born in 2007, with a tape recorder put on the ground. Since then, this first spontaneous gathering has become the most popular public dance event. It’s organized in the middle of Budapest, at the Erzsébet tér, near the fountain, and the event is so spontaneous that most of the music is brought and played by the participants.

Salsa at Kopaszi dam

If you are looking for something closer to nature, go to Kopaszi dam! There are huge salsa parties every Tuesday in Le Bistro, on a large, open terrace. Dinner, cocktails, soft drinks, "lakeside" feeling, a pleasant walk and dance evening. What else could we need? The entry fee is 800 HUF, in case of bad weather the party is in the ground floor, or if even worse, the event may be missed.
