Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden were supposed to perform at Budapest’s Groupama Arena this June, however, due to the covid-pandemic the band had to cancel their world tour – writes Telex.hu.
According to the portal the group will return to Budapest in 2022, as their whole tour was moved to the next year when the covid-crisis hopefully will be tamed further as more and more people are getting vaccinated in the country and all over the world. Currently about 6 million Hungarians received at least one dose of the vaccine, while Hungary is seeing the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic, with more and more cases reported each day.
The Iron Maiden concert is now slated for the 7th of June next year. It will mark the 13th time, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees will perform in Hungary. Their first gig happened in 1984, when Hungary was still „behind the iron curtain”, and under socialist rule. Back then they performed in the parking lot of the since demolished Budapest Sports Arena, while their last performance saw them rocking out at the 2018 Volt Festival.
