One of the world's best living bands celebrates 50-year anniversary. Don’t miss it!

To start with the most important: Scorpions’ 50th anniversary world tour comes to Hungary on February 29. One of the most important German hard rock bands in the history comes on stage in the Papp László Budapest Sportarena. The band is celebrating a half-century of rock with the release of their 19th studio album, 'Return To Forever' and a global 50th anniversary tour which kicked off in China on 1st May 2015 and runs through spring 2016.

Expressing a career like the one of the Scorpions in mere numbers is almost impossible. However, one number that should still be mentioned is more than 120 million records sold to date. This makes the Scorpions the most successful rock band of Continental Europe by far. But the countless silver, gold and platinum awards are only one side of the Scorpions’ history. Another is their unabated desire to travel. No other rock band of their caliber after so many years takes to the stage as often as the Hannover natives. They have played thousands of concerts in all corners of the planet: in Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Moscow, Washington DC, Dubai, Paris or Berlin.

Facts and figures:

German hard rock band Scorpions was established in 1965 in Hanover. Their first album, Lonesome Crow was released in 1972, followed by some records in the 70's that achieved success mainly in Europe and Japan. Their American breakthrough hit in the early 80's with Blackout and Love at First Sting, and by this time the band's signature style has been matured. Since the beginning they have sold over 120 million albums worldwide (of which 10.5 million in the US), but according to other sources, more than 150 million records sold is seeing their names. They was ranked number 46 on VH1's Greatest Artists of Hard Rock programme, and with "Rock You Like a Hurricane" at number 18 on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs.

Here in Hungary they are especially popular because of their song Wind of Change, which is a tribute to the System Change in 1989. Klaus Meine and Schenker performed at the Omega concert in 1994 (Omega is a cult Hungarian band from the 70-80-90’s). Then Meine sung “Fekete pillangó” (Black butterfly) in Hungarian with the band and the Scorpions made an English version for „Gyöngyhajú lány” in 1995 entitled “White Dove”.

So we're really looking forward to the concert in February.
