Christmas market at St. Stephen’s Basilica voted 4th best

More than 16 000 people voted for this beautiful Advent fair at the Basilica.

Every year, the travel site called European Best Destinations asks its readers to vote for their favourite fairs. And this year, the Christmas market at St. Stephen’s Basilica in the heart of Budapest was chosen 4th best market in Europe.

More than 16 000 people voted for this Advent fair, which needed only 236 votes to draw a tie with the iconic Christmas fair in Vienna. ‘Discover this enchanting city-centre Christmas celebration rich in Central European holiday traditions; it also features modern elements such as flash mobs, a wide range of the best Hungarian contemporary hand-craft products, and the monumental light show that – with 3D glasses – shows a new dimension to the façade of St. Stephen’s Basilica’ recommends the website.

What to buy there?

Choose any of the regional food delicacies, small wooden ‘treasures’, postcards, different things made by craftsmen… but all we recommend is a good mulled wine and a nice walk at the Basilica. You can take some snaps and selfies to make these moments memorable forever.

You can enjoy all this at the Advent fair until 1 January. Next year, come back with your friends – it is worth it! ;)
