Do you think these pictures were made in New York at the end of the 19th century? No, these were made in Budapest, at the set of the TV series called ‘The Alienist’.

Budapest is a popular location for sets of movies and TV series, and there are a lot of productions where we can proudly recognize one or more sights, streets, etc. on the big or small screen.

But lately, our beautiful capital city has become unrecognizable for a TV series. The story of ‘The Alienist’ is playing in New York in 1896 but the majority of the production was filmed in Budapest. For that, the location of the shooting in the 21st century Rákospalota, 15th district of Budapest had to be transformed completely with huge scenery.

Look at the pictures, you won’t believe that these photos were made in Budapest a short time ago and not in New York at the end of the 19th century.
