Daily Mail recommends visiting our beautiful capital city now, in autumn, and they also give some advice – where to go and what to do in Budapest.

, Cool customer: Daily Mail’s author thinks that Fall is the most excellent time of the year to visit Budapest. He suggests that in Spring, it’s too busy here with the Spring Festival, a city-wide celebration of music and dance. And the buzz continues in Summer, with lots of tourists and also with the heat. But in Autumn, the heat has tapered off and the crowds have thinned, but the weather is still nice and the city… well, the city is beautiful, of course. ;) In winter, you can also see a different face of the city, for ex. with the amazing Christmas Markets but you can’t enjoy river cruises which – according to Daily Mail – is a must here.

, History lesson: Hungary has a ‘complicated and unhappy history’. Became an independent country only in 1989, joined the EU in 2004, but remains out of the euro zone.

, Top spots: Matthias Church, Hilton hotel, Royal Palace, the remains of a 17th-century Jesuite monastery – a visit to the Castle District is absolutely worth it! Then do not miss the Parliament building an evening cruise on the Danube. ‘Try Danube Legend, complete with appropriate music as you glide merrily along’ – the author of Daily Mail writes.

, Fine dining has come to Budapest. The Evolution Menu at Onyx (onyxrestaurant.hu) has earned the restaurant a legion of fans and a Michelin star. Borkonyha and Muzeum Café and Restaurant are also recommended by the paper.

, Raise a glass: The city's hippest drinking den is the High Note Sky Bar on the 7th floor of the chic Aria Hotel (ariahotelbudapest.com). The signature cocktails are innovative (try The One Gardener, a blend of pear flavoured Hungarian schnapps with Angostura bitters, fresh apples and egg whites) and the views delicious.

, Stylish stay: Brody House, a former doctor's residence from the 1850s, is one of the city's most stylish accommodations.

, Go below: The Hospital in the Rock (sziklakorhaz.eu) was used during World War II and, later, the Cold War. Guided tours of the bunkers depart hourly.

, Let it sink in: Known as the City of Spas since the Thirties, Budapest offers you rest and relaxation in its spas and pools. Try the neo-Baroque Szechenyi (szechenyibath.com) or for fewer crowds, try Kiraly (kiralyfurdo.hu), which dates back to 1565. Need for more pampering? The luxurious Four Seasons hotel’s Crystal Stone massage might be the right one for you. They use yellow jade and healing obsidian crystals for the massage. Tempting, right? ;)
