Liszt Ferenc International Airport had more than 16 million passengers in 2019 – this is a new record.
Hungary’s biggest airport is getting more and more busy: Liszt Ferenc International Airport’s number of passengers passed the 16 million mark on 27 December, the airport’s operator said in a statement.
This is a new record, which the operator attributed to ‘the record figures to Budapest’s tourist appeal, the airport’s expanding network of flights and the arrival of new carriers’ – Hungary Today writes.
It is quite important to mention that in 2019, the number of destinations directly accessible from Budapest has grown (by 16 percent, to be precise), and the travellers can choose from almost 200 different flight routes, including long-haul destinations like New York, Chicago, Beijing, Dubai, Doha or Toronto.
In 2019, 33 new flights were introduced to the public, and 16 are set to be launched in 2020.
