Everything you need to know about coronavirus situation in Hungary

These are the facts and the regulation now.

The WHO has declared the global coronavirus outbreak a pandemic last week and since then many countries has tightened their regulation. Hungary did the same, so we have collected the most important information about the situation here. First of all, Hungary is a slightly infected country, and we have only one person passed away from the infection. The regulations are strict, but logical:

  • There are temporary reintroduction of border control at the Hungarian-Slovenian and Hungarian-Austrian borders.
  • There is prohibition of entry for non-Hungarian nationals from Italy, China, South Korea and Iran. Non-Hungarian nationals coming from countries that are the focal points of the epidemic (Italy, China, South Korea and Iran) are not allowed to enter Hungary.
  • One of the most important things is that the government banned indoor events of more than 100 people and outdoor events of more than 500 people. This does not apply to workplaces, but to theaters, concert halls, cinemas, etc. for example, yes.
  • Universities are closed, only distance learning can take place. Elementary and high school students are also prohibited to go to school from Monday, but this is not a break, learning continues with a new educational agenda: an out-of-class digital learning is in place.
  • The first-door take on was canceled on all buses in Budapest, and we cannot buy tickets from the bus drivers anymore.
  • Only a few people can be in the pharmacies at the same time – the queue has to be wait outside.
