Everybody knows that Mariska Hargitay, Elsa Pataky or Adrian Brody has Hungarian roots, but did you know that Drew Barrymore's mother is named Ildikó?

One of the most famous actors of the 60's and 70's was born as Bernard Schwartz. The actor was born in Manhattan as a child of Hungarian and Czechoslovak immigrants and did not speak English until the age of five.

Alanis Morissette

Canadian-born Morissette is very proud of its Hungarian heritage. His Hungarian mother's family left the country at the time of the 1956 Revolution, and Alanis is so proud of his Hungarian origin that she named her publisher „Szeretlek” which means"I love you".

Goldie Hawn

Goldie Hawn and her daughter, Kate Hudson have Hungarian ancestors too, as Hawn's mother, Laura Steinhoff fled to the United States before World War II. The actress was born in Washington in 1945.

Calvin Klein

Few would associate the name Klein with the Hungarian language, but Calvin's father, Leo, was actually born in Hungary. His son, Klein Jr., grew up in New York City, Bronx, and started his successful business with the encouragement of his mother.

Joaquin Phoenix

The actor's grandmother, Margit Lefkowitz, came from a Hungarian Jewish family, her husband was Russian, so the actor has a real multicultural family.

Peter Falk

Columbo had Eastern European ancestors from Poland, Czechoslovakia, Russia and Hungary.
