The new Budapest chairlift will have 80 four-seater chairs, thus increasing the capacity of the chairlift.
The Budapest chairlift is one of the favorite attractions of the hikers: the structure takes up to János Hill in a beautiful place, from where you can also reach the Elizabeth Lookout Tower within a short walk. The lift was originally built in 1970, and it really needs a decent renovation by now.
The charlift is in such poor condition that the task is to demolish the current lift and to build a new one with nine new support columns. The new chairlift will be located where it is today, and will also be a single-line, roundabout facility. The biggest difference is that it will have four-seater hammocks instead of the current two-seater, with a total of 80 unit narrowly 30 meters apart.
The renovation also includes redesign and construction work of the existing buildings. The modernization also affects the cableway, the renovation and development of the chairs, columns and reception buildings, the lighting system, the energy supply - but not all sources are available yet to start the work, so we can't say exact dates ever for the beginning of the construction work.
