If you consider the protection of our environment as a very important case, well, you must know that there are more and more eco-friendly, package-free stores available to do your grocery shopping.

And yes, there are some nice and friendly ones in Budapest, too, like Ligeti shops, Ne pazarolj! and the newest addition to the list, næked. The name of the place is a funny play on words, because naked refers to ‘goods without packaging’ but another word, neked means ‘to you’ in Hungarian.

The næked project was brought to life by two Hungarian girls, Noémi Gyöngyösi and Flóra Orosz who had big plans of creating an eco-friendly hotspot in Budapest, but the pandemic delayed their plans.

Finally, their dream came true, with a lot of work actually: they set up this beautiful Scando chic shop in an old wine cellar, renovated and embellished with their own bare hands, We Love Budapest writes.

‘They wanted it to function as a community place as well, which is why they offer mugs and jugs of teas – lesser-found milfoil, horsetail, marsh mallow as well as elderberry, linden and lemongrass – and Peruvian 100% Arabica Huabal Cajamarca coffee’ – they add.

What do you find in næked?

Well, almost everything you’d need in your kitchen: nuts, oils, pulses, dried fruit, cosmetics and cleaning products. And yes, you can also purchase some new paper bags and containers, if you forgot to bring your own ones to refill. ;)

The address is 4 Schwartzer Ferenc Street (district XII), and their opening hours are the following: from Monday to Friday, from 11am to 6pm, and on Saturday between 11am-3pm.
