Hungarian screenwriter among most promising in the world

Kata Wéber, screenwriter of the award-winning movie Pieces of a Woman is on Variety magazine’s 10 Screenwriters to Watch list.

Hungarian screenwriter Kata Wéber is among 2020’s 10 Screenwriters to Watch, compiled by the well-known Variety magazine – writes.

Her latest work, Pieces of a Woman was presented at the Venice Film Festival and achieved great success. You might have read already that the leading lady of the movie, Vanessa Kirby received the Coppa Volpi Award for best actress, and the Jury of Venice Classics also awarded the movie. The film was also screened at the Toronto Film Festival, and Netflix purchased the rights for its international distribution.

‘Last year’s list of screenwriters included Shia LaBeouf (“Honey Boy”) and Krysty Wilson-Cairns (“1917”), while previous years saw Charlie Kaufman (“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”), Jennifer Lee (“Frozen”) and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (“Star Trek”) among the ranks’ – writes.

So Kata Wéber is among the top 10 most promising screenwriters of the world, which is fantastic, congratulations to her!
