Winners announced for ‘Bath of the Year’
Posted by Mia Balogh · Sep 20, 2017

Hungarian baths and spas have very good reputations. But do you know the winners of the biggest annual competition for Hungarian baths in 2017? Check these out here.

The winners were recently introduced by Termalfurd.hu (Termálfürdő means thermal bath). In the top 3, there is a second-time winner and a big surprise. Ready, steady, go: here are the winners!

1. The Bath of the year award goes to Hungarospa Hajdúszoboszló

After its 2015 triumph, Hungarospa Hajdúszoboszló is the Bath of the Year in 2017, too. So the biggest bath complex in Hungary and also in Europe has achieved something unique: this is the only bath to have won two times in the history of this competition.

About the bath complex: well, if we have to use one word for describing it, we would say it’s huge. It incorporates a spa, an aqua park, swimming pools and a 30-hectare green beach with 13 pools – this is especially popular among the guests. At the slide park, you can have fun at 15 different lanes.

2. The aspiring bath of the year is Demjén Cascade

Demjén Cascade is a quite popular bath, too, probably because it can offer so many things for its visitors: it is a cave bath, health spa and even an aqua park. The Cascade Cave Bath and Spa is one of the most special baths in Hungary, we think that it is absolutely worth visiting.

Are you an adrenaline junkie or just a fan of trying new adventurous things? Then you will like the slide tower in here. After that, you can enjoy the steam cabin, Finn sauna, Kneipp pool or the salt chamber in the wellness section of the bath complex. If you would arrive late, never mind: the facility is open until 2 am.

3. Locals’ favourite spa is the V-8 Vizes Nyolcas Uszoda in Szentendre

The biggest surprise in Bath of the Year competition this year was this spa complex from Szentendre. It didn’t even make it to the top 15 last year, and now it was the winner of its category.

As Termalfurdo.hu writes, it is popular mostly for its wellness section – the Finn saunas, infra-saunas, bio-saunas, ice caves, steam cabins, salt rooms and several types of massages will make you think that you might be in a much bigger wellness complex.
