One day for Stravinsky
Posted by Ágnes Taraszovics · Jan 13, 2015

The Palace of Arts (MüPa) is organizing Stravinsky Marathon for the eighth time.

Every February since 2008, MüPa have held a marathon of a chosen composer's work in collaboration with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, this year from the works of Stravinsky, one of the most famous Russian composers.

The performances will take place at Béla Bartók Concert Hall and Festival Theatre, while at the same time, memorable performances will be screened in the Lecture Hall and the range of CDs for sale also reflects the composer of the day.

The organizers will be doing their best to present the works in their original form: Pulcinella with dancers, Petruska with a puppet theatre according to the 1911 version, and The Soldier's Tale with actors. On 7 February such items will be scheduling within the framework of the marathon as the Firebird, Capriccio, Symphony of Psalms or The Rite of Spring (Le Sacre du printemps), and the audience will also hear Stravinsky's Violin Concerto and many other familiar or rarely heard compositions.

The concerts are 50 minute long, the tickets of each are 990 HUF, but anyone purchasing three tickets is entitled to enter the fourth free of charge. Looking at the exciting offer, we think there will be big need for fourth one as well.
