In 2018 Budapest100 will be organized on the first weekend of May, focusing on the squares of Budapest.

Budapest100 is the biggest feast of lovers of Budapest. During this two-day event 100 years old houses and buildings can be visited, even those ones that are closed in the other part of the year. We can also take part in special and guided tours, where the unknown secrets of Budapest are revealed.

The Budapest100 programs series was created in 2011 with the intention of having a weekend where everyone can get to know and fell in love with the city surrounding us, together with their buildings and residents. By now, it has become a real civil celebration of the city, when we celebrate the beauty of Budapest that we may not even notice on other days of the year. Its purpose is to draw the attention of people in Budapest to the everyday values of the city around us. The other aim of the event is to bring city dwellers, neighbors and generations closer together, and this is very well done on the basis of the experiences of recent years. A spontaneous cooking in the inner courtyard of a downtown house can happen any time, and you can meet with surprising acquaintances on the programs.

The Budapest100 program will be held on the first weekend of May this year and squares will get the leading role: a total of 45 buildings and 23 squares are waiting for everyone on May 5 and 6. The researcher art historians tried to accurately recall the mood of the era 100 years ago, with the sparkling life of the city, and even those things that was destroyed since then. Because according to the Budapest 100 organizers, every house is interesting. You can find an exact list of sites and all other information here.

This program is a really must-see, because during these two days, the people who live in buildings involved in Budapest100 open their doors and their courtyards to visitors, giving them the chance to gain valuable insights into the history of the buildings and their inhabitants.
