The Christmas fair on Vörösmarty Square is 20 years old this year.
If you visit Budapest in the following days, you have more and more chance to get a bit of the festive atmosphere of the city. Christmas is coming and – okay, we have more than a month left and the weather is still not quite chilly, but – the main Christmas fair of our capital is already welcoming visitors from all over the world.
Vörösmarty tér is already filled with those small wooden stalls, offering mouth-watering delicacies – real goulash soup, paprika-infused stews, grilled sausages, chimney cake, wine and mulled wine, lángos and tócsni – and nice high-quality local handicrafts.
In addition, cultural programs, concerts, dance shows, themed gastro weeks and special light shows will provide family-friendly entertainment, attracting huge crowds – including the real Santa Claus. Yes, Joulupukki from Finland also attends the Christmas fair on 6 December. He will meet children on that day between 4pm and 7pm on the stage. If you will be in the city with kids, take your chance to meet him – maybe your wishes will come true... ;)
