Click here to learn more about the ’free clothes racks’ and how you can help people in need.
This year, the winter is freaking cold in Hungary and in Budapest, and there are several people who live in need. Some of them are homeless, others just can’t afford to heat up their apartment or to buy a warm winter coat. But fortunately, someone had a good idea to help these people.
Zsigmond Gerlóczy thought that we all who have some old coats (not used anymore but still in wearable condition) should hang them out to the streets so who really need it, can take it easily. There are some ‘free clothes racks’ (szabadfogas in Hungarian) all around the city, especially at the most frequented spots so everyone can find these and take a coat, if he or she needs it.
Of course, there were some folks who don’t really need these winter coats but took some. People can be selfish morons sometimes. But we think that if the movement has helped only a few dozens of people to get warm coats for these cold days (and nights especially), the ‘free clothes racks’ and warm pieces have fulfilled its objectives.
