Candies, Cakes and Circus in Sugar! shop
Posted by Mia Balogh · Dec 10, 2014

Do you have a sweet tooth, and do you like candies and cakes looking just like they were from your fantasy or a fairy tale? If yes, visit Sugar! shop in Budapest, and try something really nice and sweet, for example from their new Circus collection.

This place is a unique, youthful design patisserie; dashing, ground-breaking and playful. It has been created by Eszter Horváth, to make us remember that life needs to be enjoyed every now and then.

Sugar! started with the idea of re-thinkig everything we know about cakes and patisseries. After the success of their first patisserie, there are already three Sugar! shops in Budapest: one in Újpest, in Paulay Ede Street and on Millenáris. These places are not only good quality patisseries, liked by Hungarian people – locals and tourists –, and visitors from other countries, but also provide friendly atmosphere for a nice chat with friends or family.

I have recently visited their patisserie in Paulay Ede Street with a friend, and we couldn’t stop acting like little girls in this “sugar wonderland”. We started by looking around on the ground floor, where we saw several types of candies, lollipops and even gift ideas. Then we walked to the counter to check out their cake offer. We were absolutely amazed by the cakes, muffins, and other sweets I don’t even dare to remember, because they were so appetizing.

We wanted to taste something from Sugar!’s new Circus collection. This range also offers sugar-, gluten- and lactose-free pastries, but we were curious how for example the pink, glittery “Dodgem Candy” or the “Clown” might taste. But before deciding, we realized that it was 6 December, the day of Santa Claus: a special day of Hungary, when Santa brings chocolate and small gifts to the children, and hides all these in their shoes. So we decided to taste Sugar!’s muffins, created especially for this occasion. I tasted the one with a small “Winter Wonderland” slab, and I wasn’t disappointed: it really was a little bite of sugary wonderland for me.

Did you know?

Even the toilet looks like if it was from a fantasy land in Sugar!. If you visit the design patisserie, you should absolutely check this out, too. But be prepared for queuing, because every girl wants to see it.
